JAKEM Farm 4x4 Drive Day
Recently, the CMI Hino Adelaide team were excited to host long-time valued customer, SA Power Networks at JAKEM Farm in the Adelaide Hills for an exclusive 4x4 Drive Day.
The day was put together to not only provide extra driver training for the SA Power Networks team, it was to also showcase the new Hino GT 1528 4x4, three of which will be joining the SA Power Networks fleet, and put them to the test across the rigorous JAKEM Farm 4x4 tracks.
Have a watch of the video below to check out all the action from the 4x4 Day and the tough terrain these Hino GTs faced and conquered!
The key differences between the new model GTs and the old GT is an upgraded GVM and increased power and torque. The new GT’s now have a 14,500Kg GVM (up from 13,000Kg), and also have an increased power output of 280hp and 824Nm Torque (up from 215kp and 637Nm).
The day kicked off with a briefing from Daniel, Manger of Product Strategy from Hino Motors Australia, who gave the SA Power Networks team a run through of all the GT’s new features, benefits and capabilities. Once the briefing was completed, everyone had a chance to get behind the wheel of one of these impressive trucks and take it through JAKEM Farms challenging 4x4 routes.
We were also proud to have Heavy Automatics join us on the day to give the SA Power Networks team an exclusive insight into the Allison transmission and how to work these great 4x4 trucks to their full potential.
The JAKEM Farm 4x4 Driver Training team joined each driver in the cab to guide them through the course and give them handy hints and tips to showcase the GT’s capabilities across a range of terrains.
Nathan Chatfield, CMI Hino Adelaide General Manager, was extremely excited to have the opportunity to test drive the new trucks and showcase them to the SA Power Networks team.
“I was incredibly impressed by the tucks and the amount of power that they had. The terrain that we were driving over was incredible. I never would have thought to take a truck over there, but they handled it so well.”
Nathan was also thankful to be able to host SA Power Networks for the day.
“It is always very enjoyable when we get to host our clients for events. SA Power Networks are one of our great customers and we really thank them for their support. It was really important for us to be able to show them how well the GT 1528 can handle itself off road and the important role they’ll play in the work they do around South Australia.”
Thanks again to SA Power Network for joining us for an incredible day. Thanks also to the JAKEM Farm and Heavy Automatics team for helping us to take these impressive trucks through their paces!
